  • Top Pattern Picks for the Interpretations KAL

    April 07, 2017 2 min read 0 Comments

Our Interpretations KAL is due to start next Friday, and I for one am getting excited! Although I must confess, I've yet to decide which pattern to knit from all the designs featured in all four volumes of Interpretations by Joji Locatelli and Veera Välimäki although I have narrowed it down to four designs.

Timeless Henley by Joji Locatelli | Interpretations Vol 3
Timeless Henley by Joji Locatelli | Interpretations Vol 3

It's always good to have a classic sweater to wear on colder days. I love the lace detail in Joji's design Timeless Henley from Interpretations Volume 3. It's worked in one piece from the top down and uses shaping for a perfect tailor fit. The sample has been knit in WalkCollection Cozy Merino and requires four to six skeins depending on the size; we have some beautiful semi-solid colours in stock at the moment including Whale Watching (top), Claret (middle) and Stained Brass (bottom).

Fine Tune by Joji Locatelli | Interpretation Volume 1Fine Tune by Joji Locatelli | Interpretations Vol 1

A cowl is always a handy accessory to have, and I love knitting them! Fine Tune is another of Joji's patterns, this time from Volume 1 of Interpretations. It combines simple garter stitch with contrasting coloured stripes and uses short rows to give the stripes direction. Two skeins of sock yarn such as SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock paired with a pack of Party of Five Gradient Mini Skeins would be perfect to knit Fine Tune in.

Fly Forward by Veera Välimäki | Interpretation Vol 2
Fly Forward by Veera Välimäki | Interpretations Vol 2

Fly Forward by Veera Välimäki caught my eye in Volume 3 of Interpretations, probably because Veera knitted her shawl in red! This project would be a simple rhythmic knit as it combines garter stitch with twisted rib inserts and uses short rows to keep the process smooth. It uses a DK yarn which will give you a shawl that will be incredibly warm wrapped around your shoulders.  I've picked out two possible yarns for knitting Fly Forward in The Fibre Co. Acadia or perhaps Amano Puna.

Little Bird by Veera Välimäki | Interpretation Vol 4
Little Bird by Veera Välimäki | Interpretation Vol 4

My final choice is another of Veera's designs, Little Bird is a lightweight boxy pullover with lovely graphic lace detail in horizontal stripes which are interspersed with stocking stitch stripes. It uses a lace weight yarn, I think this would be stunning knit up in The Fibre Co. Meadow.

There is a prize, one person will win all these goodies which includes a beautiful project bag which has been made especially for the KAL by the lovely Sharon (aka Summerberycrafts on Ravelry), Wool & Wire Stitch Markers, a Sirka® Counter by Grellow & Gray, three skeins of Amano Mayu. We will also gift you a copy of River by Sylvia McFadden.
