  • Are you a colour magpie?

    August 21, 2019 1 min read 0 Comments

    Are you a colour magpie?

I don't know about you, but I'm a bit of a magpie when it comes to colour! But colourwork does scare me a little, at least stranded colourwork does. Knitwear designer Camille Descoteaux has laid waste to this with her new shawl design Lamimi which is mostly worked in mosaic knitting interspersed beautifully with textured bands knit in the main colour. There is a little stranded colourwork just enough to dip your toe in but not make you run for the hills!

    Lamimi

Lamimi is a parallelogram, which is worked from one side to the other; this shape is highly wearable! If you want a longer shawl, you can easily add length by repeating one or two of the sections. The cast-on and cast-off are both worked in picot, which brings a little femininity to this shawl.

Camille has knit her design in Retrosaria's Vovó, which is a sport weight yarn so makes a nice weight of shawl, perfect for the cooler autumn months. Like all Retrosaira yarns, it is non-superwash, so Lamimi will keep its shape well. All in all, this is a lovely knitting project, enough different elements to keep your interest throughout!
