A Japanese Summer!
ITO Yarn
We couldn't be more excited at Tangled Yarn with the arrival of our latest yarns from Japan. We have added four new yarns; Kinu, Gima 8.5, Shio and Washi. Each was carefully hand-picked and inspired by a customer who'd asked us for a yarn recommendation to knit a summer sleeveless top.
Each of the yarns from ITO Yarn is ideal for summer knitting, they are all lace weight yarns with each offering unique fibres. They are great for using alone knit in a single strand or by combining the different yarns together and knitting them held double.
Here's a little inspiration for your next summer knitting project...
Katrin Schneider's pattern Big in Japan is the perfect summer tee, a loose boxy style it works up beautifully for warmer summer days in the paper and viscose of Washi and the silk from Kinu. You knit this project with a thread of Washi and one of Kinu held double throughout which works to a sport-weight gauge. The sample is knitted in ITO Washi, colourway Chili Pepper and ITO Kinu, colourway Hydrangea.
Next up we have Isabell Kraemer's Yume, worked from the top down this summer sweater has the option of long or short sleeves and has an interesting lace yoke. Isabell has used ITO Shio which is a soft merino wool and combined it with ITO Gima 8.5 a crisp cotton to create a fabric that is light and drapes beautifully.
mylys summer shirt 3⁄4 sleeve version | Katrin Schneider
Another knitting pattern from Katrin Schneider, her mylys summer shirt can be knit with either 3⁄4 sleeves or sleeveless. It features a lacy back with a cute single button fastening. The 3⁄4 sleeve version sample is knitted in ITO Kinu, colourway Aqua. The sleeveless version sample is knitted in ITO Gima 8.5, colourway Pacific and ITO Shio, colourway Balsam.
Nothing shouts out summer more than stripes! FUJI Top is a classic sleeveless tee with a modern silhouette, the back hem is curved and slightly longer than the front making it very flattering. Knit in ITO Kinu which is a wonderful tweedy 100% silk lace yarn.
