  • Quick Gift Knits

    December 08, 2015 2 min read 0 Comments

In September I made plans to knit gifts for some of my friends and family, but as they say the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry and as it's now December with all the goodwill in the world, time is not on my side. So I've had to slim down my list of who to knit for and have narrowed down a few carefully chosen patterns that with the right yarn will make quick gift knits!

I love these cosy cowls by designer Susan Ashcroft. Each cowl uses two skeins of Malabrigo Mecha which is a bulky yarn so they will knit up fairly quickly.

L-R Plumettes in Polar Morn; Flaunt It in Persia; Boxing Clever in Green Gray.

Hats always make a great last minute gift knit and are always gladly received. These designs just need one skein of Malabrigo Mecha.

L-R Pioneer Peak in Paris Night, Róisín in English Rose, Everyday Brew in Paris Night.

I'm keen to try out one of our newest yarns, Cumbria from The Fibre Company and these great hat patterns all use just one skein.

L-R Seathwaite in Scaffel Pike, Foxfield in Eden Valley, Greenrow in Grizedale Pike.

This matching cowl and hat by designer Carina Spencer have on my list of things to knit for ages! They'd be perfect for knitting in SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted and two skeins is enough to knit both!

Here are just a few more patterns that have made it to my short list for great knit gifts, they only need one or two skeins so of either chunky or aran weight yarn!

Top L-R: Mrs Fitz Mini Mitts, Pioneer Peak Mittens and Scorpio Leg Warmers are perfect for knitting in a skein or two of Malabrigo Mecha
Middle L-R: North Wind Hat, Lindenroot Mitts and Maize all use SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted.
Bottom L-R: Garter Gaiter, Ivy and Last Minute Cowls all ideal for Erika Knight Maxi Wool

Well time waits for no one especially not a knitter! So I wish you well with you gift knitting and hope you're a little further along than me!

Oh one final thing, don't forget our last posting date for the USA, Canada and Western Europe including the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia is Friday 11th December.

    Happy knitting
