  • Be Spontaneous!

    May 22, 2015 2 min read 0 Comments

We are very fortunate here at Tangled Yarn to have lots of friends in the knitting community. One such friend is independent designer Hanna Maciejewska. Hanna designs knitting patterns under her own label of Hada Knits, her designs are contemporary but very wearable and a real joy to knit!

Spontaneous is just one of Hanna's patterns but definitely a favourite here. This fabulous shawl pattern was released in early spring this year and I knew as soon as I saw it that it would be the perfect pattern to offer as a kit in our very own Mabel & Ivy Coast. I was thrilled when Hanna agreed that we could go ahead; I sat down and looked at all the fabulous colours that Coast comes in and came up with five kits in addition to Hanna's original colourway and so the kits were launched on our website at Easter.

Spontaneous is knit predominantly in garter stitch with bands of different colours which are interspersed with slipped stitches where the colours change over. This is a great knitting project for a newbie knitter but equally good for the more experienced knitter looking for a quick knit. Garter stitch really is perfect for social summer holiday knitting. The shawl is knit with the yarn held double throughout which makes a lovely knitted fabric. Spontaneous is one of those shawls you will want to wrap yourself in on colder summer evenings!

Originally when the shawl kit was released we offered the pattern separately but after lots of feedback we have now changed it so that your kit will come complete with a download code so you can download the pattern from our website without any extra charge. The Spontaneous Shawl Kits come with 6 colours of Mabel & Ivy Coast; each colour is supplied in 50g balls and a 3.5mm circular needle is included so you can start knitting straight away!

If you fancy some company whilst your knitting the shawl; we have an unofficial KAL running in the Tangled Yarn Ravelry Group where people who are knitting the Spontaneous shawl are chatting and supporting each other!

We shared Hanna's latest pattern releases Little (Splash of) Petrichor and Petrichor in last week's blog. If you'd like to see more of her work then her patterns can be found on Ravelry. Hanna has also had several patterns published in UK magazines including Pom Pom Quarterly. We'll also be chatting with Hanna in a couple of weeks time here in the blog about where her inspiration comes from so do check back.
